BIOGRAPHY — GÉZA SZŐCS (GEZA SZOCS) Géza Szőcs (born 1967, Vásárosnamény, Hungary) is a contemporary printmaker and graphic artist known for his conceptual etchings, geometric structures, and meticulously crafted small prints. He graduated from the University of Sopron in 1992 and considers János Horváth (painter) and E. Tamás Soltra (sculptor) as his artistic mentors. Active on the Hungarian art scene since the mid-1990s, he has participated in numerous exhibitions across Europe and Asia. His works have been shown in Italy, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Poland, Romania, and Japan, and form part of private and public collections — including the Sapporo Graphic Collection. Szőcs is a long-standing member of several professional art associations: – National Association of Hungarian Creative Artists (since 1996) – Hungarian Association of Graphic Artists (since 1998) – Hungarian Association of Etching Artists (since 1999) Between 2001 and 2015 he led the printmaking workshop at the International Art Colony in Barcs, contributing significantly to the region’s graphic-art culture. Today his artistic practice revolves around the exploration of visual logic, symbolic systems, and the evolving geometry of forms — creating works that feel both contemporary and timeless.
