Media Artist

I am a Munkácsy Mihály Award-winning visual and media artist, and a retired professor of the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design. I live and work in Budapest. I studied architecture and fine arts. In the 1980s, I worked in architecture, graphic design, and painting. In the 1990s, I created installations and utopian project works. In my works from that period, I analyzed the modes of mapping time, abstract conceptuality, the invisible and the possible, as well as the relations between contradiction and visuality. At the turn of the millennium, I began an artistic strike that lasted nearly ten years. In parallel, I researched the relationship between information technology and art, exploring the immaterial aspects of art. I experimented with software-based image manipulation, methods of medial rewriting, and visualization, and I designed video sets for alternative dance and theater performances. In the 2010s, my interests turned toward multimedia installation, new media, and intervention art. I often create works abroad. My main field is multimedia. The focus of my interest lies in the relationship between humans and machines, the interconnections between technology and creativity (design, art), between technology and visuality, technology and metaphorical vision, as well as technology and poetic thinking—their interrelations and underlying reasons.
